In the Shattered Earth, the rules for gravity have changed, or seem to have. Due to the difference that Minos presents, however, it could be argued that naturally occurring Magicite changed the gravity of the Earth pre-Cataclysm.

Simply put, an object in space has a gravity plane that passes through it’s exact center vertically. Everything above it is pulled down to the center, and everything below it experiences exact opposite gravity. A ten foot pole existing on its own, would have aplan bisecting it at the 5’ mark. Someone on its ends would feel gravity pulling down, perpendicular to the ends’ surface; someone on the sides of the pole, would feel it pulling them down towards the halfway mark of the pole.

A different — and probably more habitable — pole would be split in half lengthwise, giving two opposing semi-circular sections to stand on. {Diagrams needed}. Coyn is a 50’ thick platter of land, with at gravity plane going down the center. Plants grow on both sides, and the Farmer’s Guild keeps careful progress that the total height on each side remains the same, lest the gravity plan shift. Similar issues were raised when the Guild of Magic Users wanted to build a tower in central Haven, rock from beneath the city was carried to Dragons’ Rest to raise it up a bit to counter the height of the tower. The Druids of Baobab keep the trees trimmed and use their magic to ensure proper grown, lest the water disk rise or fall and over-saturate or dry the roots of their trees.
